Mentoring in Schools Workshop: High Prairie

Alberta Mentoring Partnership (AMP) is bringing a Mentoring in Schools Workshop to school staff in High Prairie and surrounding communities.

Participants (K-12 teachers; administrators; wellness coaches) will learn about the power of mentoring in schools, specifically how mentoring programs can improve attendance, school engagement and students’ mental health. Mentoring in schools initiatives provide an opportunity to teach and reinforce healthy relationships and healthy relationships foster the development of welcoming, caring, respectful and safe learning environments.

Participants will learn about various forms of mentoring in schools ranging from natural supports, intergenerational mentoring, reading buddies, peer mentoring, transitional mentoring to CTS credits on mentoring (teen mentoring). After lunch, participants will be provided time and support to develop a mentoring initiative that fits their school. Throughout the day, participants will learn about AMP resources and supports available to help them plan and facilitate mentoring in schools initiatives including the Natural Supports Playbook, online Mentor and Mentee Training, and the Teen Mentoring Toolkit.

Lunch
A working lunch will be provided of soup and sandwiches. If you have dietary restrictions, please pack a personal lunch as availability of alternate food items cannot be guaranteed.
