Africa Centre
About
The Africa Centre is a dynamic community hub that supports Edmonton immigrants’ and refugees’ ongoing integration into Canadian society. More than a cultural centre, this unique organization delivers high quality, culturally appropriate family and community services to Africans from dozens of countries, each with its own culture, traditions and languages.
Please note: Programs limited to individuals resident in Edmonton, Alberta
Program Description
Our youth program works with youth ages 12-30 to enhance their protective factors and increase their circles of support to achieve their aspirations and academic success. Using a wraparound model, we center on the needs of the youth and put appropriate measures in place to ensure that our young people are supported in their educational and career goals and are encouraged to take personal responsibility for their futures.
Youths are matched with an African young adult who, depending on individual youth needs, may have had similar life experiences, similar barriers, and challenges, share a common cultural heritage, and/or, share common interests or goals in life.
