Program Description

YEC offers a variety of programs and services to youth, which include:

• Living Library - The Youth Employment Centre’s Living Library series, funded through RBC Foundation, gives youth ages 15-24 the ability to network, connect and learn from working professionals. Each library features a variety of human, or “living books,” across a wide range of industries and careers. Guests connect with youth in small groups to share their experiences, answer questions and provide advice throughout.

  • Mentor Description: A hour and a half in person or virtually sharing your career journey.

• In collaboration with local and national businesses and various youth serving agencies, YEC provides youth with free career development opportunities and employment services including:

  • 1 to 1 employment counsellor support

  • Resume and cover letter targeting

  • Job searching strategies

  • Interview preparation

  • Career planning and exploration

  • Industry training options

  • Networking opportunities

  • Volunteering opportunities

  • Employment opportunities / job postings

  • Scholarship and bursary opportunities

  • Employer hiring events

  • Annual youth hiring fair

  • Employer connections

  • Employment workshops

  • Informational interviews / job shadowing opportunities

  • Work experience programs
