About

The Alex Youth Health Centre (YHC) provides comprehensive health and wellness services through a welcoming, accessible, non-judgmental and youth-friendly environment. The YHC seeks to reduce barriers to accessing health care for vulnerable youth who are at risk. The YHC understands “youth at risk” to mean youth age 12-24 who are not aware of existing services, youth who have fallen between the cracks of existing service delivery, youth who cannot find services that are culturally appropriate or that fill their needs, youth who are experiencing a lack of continuity in service, youth who do not have access to positive role models in their lives, youth whose basic needs (including food, shelter, and a sense of belonging to a community) are not met, youth who are disconnected from the education system, youth who have already been involved with Children’s Services and/or the justice system, and youth who are in danger of being exploited due to their vulnerable positions.
