About
Calgary Immigrant Women’s Association (CIWA) is a non-profit organization established in 1982 as a registered charity. CIWA is a culturally diverse settlement agency that recognizes, responds to, and focuses on the unique concerns and needs of immigrant and refugee women, girls, and their families. CIWA provides programs and services catered for immigrant parents, seniors and youth to help all family members transition smoothly in a new country.

Program Description
CIWA provides programs and services catered for youth in the areas of settlement, social inclusion, mental health, civic engagement, leadership, goal and career planning, academic success, and many more. Our youth programs empower immigrant youth to get involved in the community and reach their full potential.
Program Name: Youth Mentorship Program
Program Description: Engage in one-on-one mentorship with immigrant and newcomer girls, fostering their intercultural understanding and supporting personal, academic, and community growth. Serve both as a friend and mentor, nurturing self-esteem, cross-cultural appreciation, and academic progress. Guide mentees in areas like community involvement and leadership skills.
Mentor Description: Female volunteers ages 18-30, with educational or career experience in Canada. Dedicate 4 monthly hours for a year from March to February, supporting immigrant and newcomer girls aged 14-24. Your participation as a mentor allows you to share expertise, foster leadership abilities, instill confidence, and aid your mentee's settlement journey.
Requirements: Police Check including Vulnerable Sector and Child Intervention Record Check
Program Name: Immigrant Girls, Boys and More
Program Description: Engage in personalized career mentorship with immigrant and racializes youth, focusing on their academic, personal, and career growth. Offer active guidance in career exploration, job shadowing, academic/career support, and assistance with scholarship/university applications. Assist in goal setting and identifying networking opportunities.
Mentor Description: Mentors of any gender, ages 18-35, possessing educational or career experience in Canada. Dedicate 2 monthly hours from September to March, supporting immigrant youth aged 14-18. Your involvement as a mentor enables you to share expertise, foster leadership abilities, instill confidence, and contribute to your mentee’s career and settlement journey.
