About
Founded in 2010, the Somali-Canadian Society of Calgary (SCSC) is a non profit organization that serves the cultural, psychological and socio-economic needs of the refugees, immigrants and youth in Calgary and surrounding areas. The SCSC is dedicated to promoting, inspiring, and enriching the lives of Calgarian children, refugees, newcomers, and families through programs addressing social, spiritual, and educational needs.
Program Description
The Somali-Canadian Society of Calgary runs many programs targeting children and youth, some seasonal while other are continuous throughout the year. Our continuous programs include but are not limited to our Homework Club for students K-12 that runs twice a week, religious classes that also run twice a week for kids under 15, cultural classes, and mentorship sessions that vary in form and format. Our seasonal programs include our Summer Day Camp for kids 8-14 together with events that are spread throughout the year that cater to the social, spiritual, and educational needs of the children and youth.
