Big Brothers Big Sisters serving Chestermere and Rocky View County
Big Brothers Big Sisters is a donor supported volunteer-driven organization recognized for mentoring programs for children and youth in schools and communities throughout Chestermere Rocky View County and surrounding areas. The organization matches young people with caring volunteers in a variety of mentoring programs. They also provide training for both the volunteer and young person as well as ongoing professional support to foster success of mentoring relationships. Mentorship has a positive impact on the lives of children and youth by improving their self-esteem relationships with others and understanding of the value of education. Mentorship also provides positive youth development and the resiliency to reach their potential. Big Brothers Big Sisters believes that any young person can benefit from a mentor.
The In School Mentoring program is offered in the Chestermere area. Mentors spend one-to-one time with a student 6 to 12 years old. They meet at a school near the volunteer’s work or home during the school day. Mentors connect with their Little and share their love of learning through fun on-site activities.
