At Big Brothers Big Sisters in Airdrie our goal is to create and nurture one-to-one mentoring relationships for children and youth within the town who are facing adversity. Each mentoring relationship is monitored and supported by the agency to ensure positive and meaningful relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of the children and youth, their families, the mentors, and generations to follow.
Our mission is to enable life-changing mentoring relationships to ignite the power and potential of young people. We achieve this with volunteers in our community. With the support of a caring mentor, young people develop the resilience to overcome adversity so they can reach their full potential. All children benefit from having a positive adult role model in their lives, and the impact of mentor in these early years will last a lifetime.
Program Description
The presence of a caring adult in a young person’s life impacts society, workplaces, families and communities. Our programs combine passion with patience, empathy and a generous spirit that encourages real connections to form. At Big Brothers Big Sisters of Airdrie we offer programs such as:
- Mentoring as a Big Brother / Big Sister / Big Couple
- Mentoring for Youth
- PRISM – Mentoring for LGBTQ2S+ Children and Youth
- Mentoring at a school
- Teen mentoring
