Program Description
Alberta 4-H is about members and volunteer leaders working together to gain marketable skills through hands-on project based activities in a friendly, fun environment. Members may choose from over 35 different projects (ranging from business to photography or livestock to web design). The 4-H program has approximately 2400 volunteer leaders working with 6800 members in 400 community-based clubs throughout the province. To become a member, individuals must be between the ages of 9 and 20, and leaders must be 18 or older. Additional skill and personal development programming, scholarships and award opportunities are available for 4-H members and leaders beyond the club at the district, regional, provincial, national and international levels. The program is managed through a partnership between the Alberta 4-H Council, the 4-H and Agriculture Education Branch of Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development and the 4-H Foundation of Alberta.
