Program Description
Provost Public School is proud to be a Mentorship School, where building meaningful connections is at the heart of our community. We intentionally create opportunities for both formal and informal mentorship, fostering relationships that strengthen our school culture and support student success. Mentorship often happens when older students connect with younger students through simple but powerful interactions— sharing conversations, playing games, reading together, or engaging in numeracy activities. These moments of connection provide caring support that contributes to children’s wellbeing, sense of belonging, and engagement in school.
Research shows that consistent, positive interactions with a mentor can have a lasting impact on a young person’s life, including improved school engagement, higher rates of high school completion, and better overall health and well-being. Mentorship also benefits the mentor. Through purposeful interactions and skill-based volunteerism, older students develop leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills that support their own personal growth and future career pathways. At Provost Public School, we are committed to continuing to grow and strengthen mentorship opportunities for all students.
