About

The Martin Family Initiative (MFI) is committed to improving elementary and secondary school education outcomes for First Nations, Métis Nation, and Inuit students in Canada, by working in full partnership with the Indigenous people of Canada, pertinent governments, school boards and the private sector. MFI encourages entrepreneurship with Indigenous students, supports mentoring of FNMI students to go on to postsecondary education, helps principals of First Nations schools acquire the knowledge they need to help their students succeed, and improving literacy outcomes for First Nations school students.

Program Description

MFI offers a variety of program across Canada including: Aboriginal Youth Entrepreneurship (Grade 11 & 12), Accounting Mentoring, First Nations Schools Principals' Course, Legal Mentoring, Model School Literacy Project, Promising Practices in Indigenous Education virtual library, and 'We Stand Together' (campaign with Free The Children/WE).
