Dr. Julia Pryce, Associate Professor at Loyola University Chicago School of Social Work, is inspired by the power of children and is eager to find ways to use research to improve our supportive services with them. In her research on mentoring, she has become particularly interested in gender-specific mentoring and in mentoring programs that seek to address specific concerns or developmental challenges. In the first phase of this interactive presentation, Dr. Pryce will provide an overview of the literature and best practices related to mentoring of girls. She will also use examples from her own work on GirlPOWER!, in collaboration with Dr. David DuBois and other colleagues, to provide outcome data as well as examples of an innovative approaches to gender-specific mentoring.
