SUMMARY:Reconnection, Reconciliation and Resilience – An event for hope and a better future
DESCRIPTION:For the second consecutive year, Stardale Women’s Group and Grace Presbyterian Church are coming together with community partners, artists, and individuals in honor of Orange Shirt Day and National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. On September 30, 2023, the community will gather at the Grace Church in downtown Calgary in honour of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This event is an opportunity to discuss the effects of residential schools and their legacy and is open to the public. During the afternoon, it will include a ceremony with Elder’s presence and teachings and a drumming performance from The Stardale Girls Drumming Group.\nAdditionally, there will be a screening of an original film created by Stardale Women’s Group. Refreshments will also be served and a selection of Indigenous Owned Businesses will be showcased as part of the event in an art market format.\nIn the evening commencing at 7:00 (doors open at 6:30) , the event will continue with a screening of the new film Bones of Crows with host George Canyon.
