About Safe and Caring

Safe and Caring is a not-for-profit organization which builds community capacity to prevent bullying, violence and exploitation of children and youth through the promotion of healthy relationships.

HEROES of a Safe and Caring World Award

How do you define a HERO?

Perhaps you know someone who has been active in building healthy relationships.

Perhaps someone stood up for themselves and others to support more diverse and vibrant communities.

Perhaps someone has taken steps to empower youth and community leaders.

Perhaps someone has opposed bullying and other violence with an act of extraordinary bravery, compassion or commitment.

Perhaps someone has just gone out of their way to make your day a little bit brighter.

Safe and Caring wants to recognize their service to Alberta communities!

Nomination Guidelines

  • Nominations must support our guiding principles
  • Nominations may be made on behalf of individuals, community organizations or businesses
  • Nominations must include:
    • Completed nomination form (attached), including a nomination letter (maximum 600 words)
    • Completed FOIP consent forms from both the nominator and nominee
  • Submissions that show excessive violence and swearing or are otherwise deemed inappropriate will be disqualified

All nominations and supporting material will become the property of Safe and Caring and will not be returned. Safe and Caring reserves the right to use HEROES submissions in any manner that supports our guiding principles.

Selection Process

HEROES Award recipients are chosen by a committee comprised of Safe and Caring staff members, board members and supporting community partners and organizations.
All nominators and nominees will receive an email confirming that their nomination was received.
Award recipients and nominators will be contacted when selected.
All recipients will be honoured at the Annual Creating Safe Spaces Waffle Breakfast. This year, the breakfast will be held on November 19, 2014 at the Sutton Place Hotel in Edmonton, AB.

Mail-in submission can be submitted on a printed copy of the this form.
